What changes are seen when children receive lessons? This method provides children with experiences that give them an opportunity to upgrade their nervous systems. Practitioners seek to wake up children’s awareness of feeling what they are doing. Many parents report that the first changes they see include: • Improved mood • Better sleep • Greater comfort • Increased alertness and awareness of their surroundings Functional changes that have been seen as children continue the work include: • More effortless movements • Better balance • Improved ability to move: crawl, walk, run, jump, reach • Greater problem-solving skills • Improved speech

Some days are good and some not so good. There are always changes that help make life more comfortable as well as keep the brain learning to move forward for a better quality of life.

This is not a quick fix, but a way to see changes that make life easier for parents and children. Infants can learn a lot and get their brain firing so well that diagnosis change and the child will prosper.

This little one has had many lessons and her dad sent me a text that she had come up to sitting, and then a second text that she came up to sitting and withing a few moments he posted on Facebook that she had come up to sitting many times on her own for the first time in her life! What a wonderful learning brain!
Infants & Children Typical and with Special Needs
Even typical children will trive with this work.

Karen has found a huge passion in working with all children.  Typical and special needs children will benefit from this amazing work.

Children respond very quickly to this method and the younger the child the quicker the results.  This work is done gently to enhance new neuro connections creating many new possibilities for children.  It is amazing to see how a child no matter the age feel, sense and use the information of movement and make it their own.

This work improves the mood of your child, children sleep better as the central nervous system calms down, and they feel more comfortable in their body and have increased alertness and awareness of their surroundings.

Karen’s 28 years of movement experience have lead her on this amazing learning curve.  Some experiences that were truly amazing were; after working on a child that could do nothing but lie on the table.  Her parents reported that after the first lesson she started to track them when they were moving in the room with her eyes.  These are very special parents that appreciate and noticed the minute difference and the power of change.

Another child came for a set of 5 lessons and his mother was so excited to see his clumsiness disappear.   He didn’t want to be touched, but we worked a plan that he agreed to.   I would do 2 minutes with him and 2 minutes with mom.  It was not too long before he enjoyed the entire lesson himself.  He now asks his mom to see Karen.

Changes in children do not happen overnight.   If you ever watched The Story of Elizabeth on PBS with Anat Baniel, you will see that it took 7 years of lessons before Elizabeth walked.  Her father was not going to put her in a home as was suggested by her doctors.  Today Elizabeth has 2 master degrees; she danced at her wedding and is helping other children.

It is often that after a series of lessons that a child will go home and start doing some of the movements that were done during the lesson.  It is great to see the child feeling more aware of his/her surroundings and the feeling of “I can” brings much joy to the child.

Functional Changes Include:

Better Balance
Improved ability to move, crawl, walk, jump, reach
Greater problem solving skills
Improved speed
Improved movement
More confidence
More aware of their body

Children’s lessons are hands on session with Karen.  Movements are done gently and easily, noticing where and how the child moves easily and amplifying that and allowing for more connection in the rest of their body.  The lesson is 45 minutes in length, however if your child has learnt as much as his/her brain can, in less time the lesson is over.   The child’s brain will take the information and use it the way that best suits their body at that time.  Each lesson adds new neuro connections at the rate of 2 million per second, creating greater changes.

From the book “The boy who could run but not walk” by Dr. Karen Pape:
Athletes and coaches call a practised movement “muscle memory.” Neuroscientists call it a “facilitated brain network.”
